Peanut Butter Balls

Looking for an easy and indulgent dessert that’s sure to impress? Peanut Butter Balls are the perfect solution. With their creamy peanut butter centers coated in rich chocolate, these bite-sized treats are a crowd-pleaser for any occasion. Plus, they’re simple to make and require no baking!

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening or coconut oil (optional)

How to Make Peanut Butter Balls:

  1. Prepare the Peanut Butter Mixture:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the creamy peanut butter and softened butter until smooth.
    • Gradually stir in the powdered sugar until fully incorporated. The mixture should be firm and easy to handle.
    • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for about 15 minutes to allow the mixture to firm up.
  2. Shape the Balls:
    • Remove the mixture from the refrigerator and use your hands to roll it into 1-inch balls. For larger balls, aim for 12 pieces; for smaller treats, adjust accordingly.
    • Arrange the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to ensure they hold their shape during the next step.
  3. Melt the Chocolate:
    • Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler. If desired, add 1 tablespoon of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to create a smoother consistency for dipping.
    • Stir the melted chocolate until smooth and glossy.
  4. Dip and Coat:
    • Using a fork, dip each peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated.
    • Gently tap the fork on the edge of the bowl to remove any excess chocolate, then transfer the coated balls back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Set and Serve:
    • Allow the chocolate to set by refrigerating the peanut butter balls until firm. They’re now ready to serve and enjoy!

Tips for Success:

  • Customizations: Add a decorative drizzle of white chocolate or sprinkle crushed nuts on top before the chocolate sets for an extra touch.
  • Storage: Store the peanut butter balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. They also freeze well for longer storage.
  • Occasions: Perfect for holiday cookie trays, birthday parties, or as a quick dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth.

With just a handful of pantry staples and a few simple steps, these Peanut Butter Balls are a surefire way to make any day a little sweeter. Whip up a batch today and share the joy of this classic treat with family and friends!
