Moving into a new home is exciting, but nobody really talks about the adjustment period that comes afterward. Once the boxes are unpacked and the furniture is in place, you’re left trying to figure out where everything belongs—and in my case, where everything actually is.
In Episode 42 of the This Old Baker Podcast, I’m sharing the reality of settling into a new kitchen. What seemed perfectly organized on moving day has somehow turned into a daily scavenger hunt. Measuring cups disappear. The cinnamon is never in the first cabinet I check. And somehow, I still find myself reaching for drawers that don’t even exist in this house.
As someone who spends a lot of time cooking, baking, filming recipes, and creating content, learning a new kitchen has been both challenging and surprisingly funny. Every cabinet, drawer, and countertop has its own learning curve. It’s a reminder that even the simplest routines take time to rebuild after a major life change.
This episode is about more than just kitchen organization. It’s about giving ourselves grace during periods of transition. Whether you’ve recently moved, started a new chapter, or are simply trying to find your footing in a new routine, you’re not alone.
Join me as I share stories from my ongoing kitchen scavenger hunt, the lessons I’m learning along the way, and why finding a new normal doesn’t happen overnight.
