Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup dry milk powder
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp ground poultry seasoning

Instructions

  • Whisk all ingredients together until well incorporated.
  • Store in an airtight jar for up to 6 months.
  • To use: Melt 2 tablespoons of fat (butter, shortening, sausage fat, bacon fat) in a sauce pan, add 3 tablespoons of gravy mix, cook on medium-low heat for 3 minutes (making a roux), then pour in 1 cup water or milk. Whisk and cook until thickened.
  • This equals 18 store bought packets

Notes

Add cooked sausage for sausage gravy, make the gravy with bacon grease and add cooked bacon for saw mill gravy, as any type of cheese for cheese sauce, use for a cream soup base and add cheese and broccoli for broccoli soup or potatoes for potato soup.
Variations: Gluten free flour can be substituted for the all purpose flour, but extra cornstarch may be needed for thickening.
