Create your own homemade Shake 'N Bake style breading mix using a blend of breadcrumbs and savory spices for a quick and easy way to add a crispy coating to your favorite meats.

Ingredients

Instructions

  • To make dip meat (chicken or pork chops) in your choice of oil, milk or buttermilk. Cover evenly with coating and bake at 400 degrees.
  • Pork Chops approx 25-30 min to an internal temperature of 145
  • Boneless Chicken approx 25-30 min to an internal temperature of 165
  • Bone in Chicken approx 40-45 min to an internal temperature of 165

Notes

For the crispiest result: place coated pieces on a wire rack set over the baking sheet instead of directly on the pan. Air circulates underneath and prevents the bottom from going soggy.
Pat meat dry before dipping in oil or buttermilk — excess moisture steams the coating instead of crisping it.
Shake ‘N Bake method: add a few tablespoons of mix to a zip-top bag, drop in moistened meat, seal, and shake to coat.
Spicy version: add 1–2 teaspoons cayenne pepper or chili powder to the full batch. Smoky version: swap regular paprika for smoked paprika.
Gluten-free: substitute certified GF breadcrumbs 1:1. All spices are naturally gluten-free.
Store in an airtight container up to 3 months. Because this mix contains breadcrumbs, shelf life is shorter than a pure spice mix. If the crumbs smell off or have gone soft, make a fresh batch.
