Homemade white bread is a staple that everyone can master with just a few simple ingredients. Its soft, fluffy texture and delicate crust make it the perfect accompaniment to any meal.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups warm water 105 -110 degrees
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp yeast
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  •  

Instructions
 

  • Dissolve sugar in warm water. Add yeast and let it proof. Mix oil into the yeast mixture once it has proofed.
  • In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt.
  • Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture one cup at a time and stir/mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 3-5 minutes.
  • Place the dough in an oiled bowl, turning it over to coat both sides. Let it rise for one hour.
  • Punch down the dough, shape it into loaves, and place it into greased bread pans. Let it rise for 30-40 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for approximately 30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown. Brush the tops with butter while still warm.
