Create a homemade onion gravy mix by combining dried onion flakes, beef bouillon granules, cornstarch, onion powder, and a blend of spices. Store the mix in an airtight container for a quick and easy way to add flavor to your meals.
Whisk everything together in a bowl and put into an airtight container.
Use within the year or vacuum seal in Mylar bags for long term storage.
To use: Melt 2 tablespoons of fat (butter, shortening, beef fat, bacon fat) in a sauce pan, add 2 tablespoons of gravy mix, cook on medium-low heat for 3 minutes (making a roux), then pour in 1 cup water, broth or beer. Whisk and cook until thickened. Whisk in 1 tablespoon or Worcestershire sauce and 1/2 teaspoon of browning sauce, such as Gravy Master or Kitchen Bouquet. These additions will make your gravy a deep, dark color an add excellent flavor.!
