mini chocolate chips
optional, but makes it fudgy
Instructions
Layer order for pretty stripes: flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder + soda + salt mixed together, then chocolate chips on top.
To Bake the Cake
Add jar contents to a large mixing bowl. Stir or sift well. Then add:
2 eggs
1 cup milk (or buttermilk for extra richness)
½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water (last, stir gently)
Pour into a greased 9×13 baking dish. Bake at 350°F for 30–35 minutes (or until toothpick comes out clean). Cool before frosting.
Notes
This chocolate cake mix will make a
9×13 cake
or
two 8-inch round cakes
