Italian Gnocchi Skillet

This comforting skillet dinner combines tender potato gnocchi with savory Italian sausage, rich marinara sauce, fresh spinach, and melted mozzarella. It’s a hearty meal that comes together quickly and tastes like cozy Italian comfort food.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound potato gnocchi
  • 1 pound Italian sausage mild or hot, casing removed
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish optional

Instructions
 

  • Cook the gnocchi
  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the gnocchi according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  • Brown the sausage
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked.
  • Add garlic and sauce
  • Stir in the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the marinara sauce and sprinkle in the Italian seasoning, stirring well.
  • Add the spinach
  • Stir the fresh spinach into the sauce and cook for about 1 minute until wilted.
  • Combine the gnocchi
  • Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet and gently toss so everything is coated in the sauce.
  • Add the cheese
  • Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the top.
  • Melt the cheese
  • Cover the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. For a golden top, place the skillet under the broiler for 1–2 minutes.
  • Serve
  • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired and serve warm.
