Homemade Gnocchi Mix

A homemade gnocchi mix can be made using instant potato flakes, flour, and seasonings to create a shelf-stable pantry shortcut. Just add hot water and an egg to form a soft dough, then roll, cut, and cook the gnocchi until they float.

To Make the Gnocchi

  • Add to bowl:
  • 1½ cups dry mix
  • ½ cup hot water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 egg (optional but helps structure)
  • Mix into a soft dough.
  • Roll into ropes, cut into small pieces, and cook in boiling salted water.
  • When the gnocchi float to the top, they’re done (about 2–3 minutes).

Notes

Store in an airtight jar up 6 month to one year.
