Homemade Dry Onion Soup Mix

Make your own healthy version of dry onion soup mix with ingredients you probably already have on hand and for much cheaper than the store-bought packets!

  • Add all ingredients to medium-sized bowl and stir to combine.
  • Store in an air-tight container in a cool, dry place.
  • To make onion soup, combine 3 tablespoons of mix with 4 cups of water (or broth).That gives you about 4 servings of onion soup, just like the classic Lipton packets.
    Creamy Onion Soup (Variation)To Prepare (about 4 servings):3 tablespoons Homemade Dry Onion Soup. Mix 3 cups water (or broth), 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
    Directions:In a medium saucepan, whisk together the dry onion soup mix and water/broth. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to simmer for 10–12 minutes. Stir in the milk and simmer another 3–5 minutes until warmed through and creamy. Serve hot with crusty bread, croutons, or melted cheese on top.
  • To Make Dip: Combine 3 tablespoons of the mix with 1 cup of sour cream and let it sit for 30 minutes to create a quick and tasty dip for chips and veggies.
