  • Layer ingredients in a quart wide-mouth mason jar in the order listed for a pretty presentation, or mix all together in a bowl before pouring into the jar.
  • Tap gently to settle contents but don’t pack tightly.
  • Seal with lid and band.

To Prepare Herbed Chicken Rice (4–6 servings):

  • In a medium saucepan, combine entire jar contents with 5 cups water (or chicken broth).
  • Add 1 tbsp butter or olive oil.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
  • Cover and simmer for 20–25 minutes, until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  • Remove from heat, let stand 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork.

Serving Suggestions

  • Stir in 2 cups diced cooked chicken + 1 cup frozen peas for a one-pot meal.
  • Use as a side dish for roast chicken, pork, or fish.
  • Add fresh lemon zest and a sprinkle of Parmesan for a flavor boost.

Notes

Shelf Life: 12–18 months in a cool, dry pantry
 

Rice Cooker Directions

  1. Add the Mix: Measure out 1 cup of dry Herbed Chicken Rice Mix into the rice cooker.
  2. Liquid Ratio: Pour in 2 ¼ cups water or broth (chicken broth makes it extra flavorful).
  3. Optional Add-ins: Stir in a small knob of butter or a splash of olive oil if you like it richer.
  4. Cook: Close the lid and start the normal White Rice cycle.
  5. Rest: When the cycle finishes, let it sit on warm for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
