To Assemble the Jar:

  • Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together. In a clean 32-oz mason jar, layer ingredients from bottom to top: flour mixture, brown sugar, cane sugar, chocolate chips, and pecans. A funnel helps keep layers neat.
  • Seal the jar with a lid, tie on a gift tag with directions, and decorate however you like.

To Bake the Cookies:

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, vanilla, and egg with an electric mixer. Add the jar mix and beat until blended.
  • Cover and chill dough for at least 1 hour (or overnight for extra flavor).
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls, placing 12 on the sheet. Bake 12–15 minutes, until golden and crisp on top.
  • Cool, serve, and enjoy
