Instructions

  • Sift & Combine: In a medium bowl, sift the confectioners' sugar to remove any lumps. Blend: Add the instant dry milk powder and vegetable shortening to the sifted sugar. Mix Well: Using a hand mixer, food processor, or fork, blend the ingredients until fully combined. The mixture should have a fine, powdery texture with no large chunks of shortening.
  • Store: Transfer the mixture to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months. For longer storage, keep in the refrigerator.
  • Chill the Bowl: For best results, chill your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 10 minutes before whipping.
  • Mix with Water: In the chilled bowl, combine 3 tablespoons ice-cold water with 1/2 cup of the whipped topping mix. Blend & Whip: Using a hand mixer or whisk, beat on high speed for about 2–4 minutes, until the mixture becomes smooth and fluffy. Adjust Consistency: If the topping is too thick, add extra water 1 teaspoon at a time, whipping after each addition until the desired consistency is reached.
