Many cake mix boxes have shrunk, leaving bakers with less batter than needed. A simple upsizing mix using pantry staples can restore your cake to its original size, ensuring you have enough batter for larger, fluffier cakes.

Ingredients

White And Yellow Cake Mixes

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Chocolate Cake Mixes

1 cup and 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
6 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

Whisk together the ingredients and store the mixture in an airtight container. Whenever you want to increase a 13.25-ounce cake mix to 18.25 ounces, add 3 ounces of this mixture (approximately six tablespoons) to your existing cake mix.
Follow your original 13.25 box instructions for liquids and other ingredients. Add about 2–3 tbsp extra water or milk
If your added dry mix is mostly flour/sugar, also add about 1 tbsp extra oil or butter to keep it moist
