Add the base ingredients
Place the softened cream cheese, sour cream, ranch dressing, and wing or hot sauce into the crockpot. Stir gently to combine as best you can.
Add the chicken
Stir in the shredded chicken (or drained canned chicken), breaking it up so it’s evenly distributed.
Cook
Cover and cook on LOW for 2–3 hours or HIGH for 1–1½ hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is hot and creamy.
Add the cheese
Stir in the shredded cheese, reserving a small handful if you want some on top. Continue cooking uncovered for 10–15 minutes, stirring once or twice, until the cheese is fully melted and smooth.
Season and finish
Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed. Stir in crumbled bacon or sprinkle it over the top.
Garnish and serve
Top with green onions just before serving. Keep the crockpot on WARM for serving.
Serve hot with chips, crackers, bread, or veggies.
